Problem:
public washrooms are an unavoidable part of daily life, especially in schools , hostels, colleges , workplaces , etc. Nevertheless, hygiene is one of the largest issues. Most toilets are either not cleaned regularly or lack transparency about the level of cleanliness. In females, especially, this issue is critical, whereby the lack of hygienic toilets may cause infections like urinary tract infections (UTIs). On my part, there have been instances of fatigue and stress when I do not want to use a restroom during traveling or in hostels due to poor maintenance. This renders the issue to be not only a matter of comfort but also of a public health.

Solution:
My solution is HygiScan which is a smart hygiene monitoring device in the public restrooms. The device uses sensors to track :
  • odor levels (ammonia-gas levels/methane-gas levels) to detect foul smell,
  • Humidity sensors to check wet floors or dirty (uncleaned)  floors,
  • usage count sensors to monitor the number of times washroom is used and give out alerts when used heavily.

This information would be calculated and presented as Cleanliness Score on a display touchscreen outside the restroom

  • green = clean,
  • yellow = moderate,
  • red = needs cleaning)

At the same time, cleaning staff would receive real-time alerts on an app, enabling them to clean when needed rather than adhering to a strict timetable.

Impact & Benefits:
  • To the users: Guarantees of hygiene, less risk of infection, increased trust in using the common facilities
  • In women and children : protection againts UTI and other health complications.
  • To cleaning staff and authorities: Time saving, cost savings and better accountability.
  • To the society: improved public health and higher hygiene standards.

Why it matters to me:
Being a girl, it is incredibly hard to manage in case of unhygienic toilets in the public. The fear of infections and the discomfort of withholding is exhausting. A system like HygiScan would simplify the day-to-day life and make it healthier, safer, and less stressful.

BalanceBuddy – Daily Wellness Tracker for Students

The Real-Life Problem

College is great, but it tends to completely disrupt a student's routine. All-night study sessions, back-to-back classes, club meetings, and countless hours on laptops or phones gradually consume standard sleep and meal times. Most students find themselves starting to skip breakfast, spend hours without moving, and guzzle extra cups of coffee just to stay afloat. These little bad habits may seem small-bore at the beginning, but after a semester they add up to something larger: persistent fatigue, lousy focus in class, and even regular illness.
Since the changes are gradual, most students do not realize what is going on until they are already run-down. University health check-ups or fitness campaigns work for a day or two, but are one-shot and cannot monitor the daily habits that foretell a drop in daily well-being.

My Idea

BalanceBuddy is an approachable, privacy-conscious mobile tool that quietly monitors a student's daily well-being—no costly wearables or laborious manual logging required. After being installed, it becomes familiar with a student's regular routine over the first few weeks and then looks for significant changes: irregular sleep, extended periods of inactivity, unexpected late-night screen time, or significant declines in physical activity.
When the app recognizes a drift from healthy routines, it gives softer, encouraging nudges—such as a reminder to stretch, an adjustment tip for sleep times, or a brief breathing exercise. The intention is not to lecture or criticize but to be like a good friend who picks up on when things don't feel right.

Areas of the Existing Market that Lack Adequate Solutions

Fitness apps are normally designed for athletes and need smartwatches or pricey trackers, which most students can't or won't use regularly.
Wellness programs at universities depend on sporadic questionnaires or health camps, so they can't register the fine-grained, daily lifestyle changes causing health problems.
Generic wellness apps are not tailored to the individualized, rapidly evolving habits of students and hardly integrate automation, solid privacy, and student-tailored insights.

Who Benefits

Students get private, immediate feedback on their daily health so they can make little adjustments up front—before fatigue or sickness interferes with school.
Universities see only anonymous, aggregated information (for instance, "first-year hostel average sleep time fell during exam period"). This allows them to schedule wellness initiatives, shift library or cafeteria schedules, and make targeted resources available without ever seeing individual data.

Why This Problem Matters to Me

I've watched good friends begin a semester with enthusiasm and finish it running on empty—not from big stress moments, but from tiny everyday routines like all-night gaming or missing meals. Before they even knew something was amiss, they were sick or having trouble concentrating. I wanted to build a tool that intercepts those red flags early, so students can remain healthy and make the most of their college experience.

Technical Details

The app works entirely with the sensors already built into a student’s phone, such as the accelerometer and gyroscope, to detect steps and general movement, and it uses basic screen-time data to notice late-night phone use—no GPS or location tracking is ever required. A small machine-learning model runs directly on the device, gradually learning each student’s usual daily patterns and spotting noticeable changes like irregular sleep or a big drop in activity. All of the raw information stays on the phone itself. If a student chooses to share group trends with the university, extra statistical “noise” is added so that no individual can be identified. Students have full control over what they share and can turn off data sharing at any time.

The Problem

Milk, especially buffalo milk, is a vital part of daily nutrition in India. Yet adulteration with water, starch, detergents, and chemicals remains a widespread issue. Families also have no easy way to know the fat percentage or nutritional value of the milk they consume. Traditional tools like lactometers are unreliable, and lab testing is impractical for everyday use. The result: people consume milk blindly, often compromising on health and nutrition.

The Solution

The proposed device is a compact household machine that instantly checks the quality of buffalo milk. Using only a small sample (10–20 ml), the machine can:

• Detect adulteration (like water or harmful chemicals).

• Show fat percentage and nutritional value (SNF, protein estimates).

• Indicate freshness with a simple signal.

In less than a minute, families can confidently know whether their milk is safe, pure, and nutritious.

Why My Solution is Innovative

• Designed for homes: Unlike large milk analyzers built for dairies, this device is made for kitchens — compact, affordable, and simple.

• Instant results: No apps, no waiting for labs — just pour milk and get clear results on a small screen.

• Family-focused: A practical everyday health tool, helping households ensure safe milk consumption.

Universal Appeal

This device serves all age groups above 3 years:

• Parents can ensure pure, nutritious milk for children.

• Fitness-conscious adults can monitor fat content for diet goals.

• Seniors can safely consume milk without risking adulterated or spoiled content.

It works for everyone, everywhere — from households to tea stalls, schools, and local dairies.

Practical and Scalable

• Low cost sensors make the device economically viable.

• Easy to maintain — just rinse the chamber after use.

• Scalable applications — one device per home, or bulk deployment in milk collection centers, schools, and community kitchens.

Addressing Potential Concerns

• Cost: Affordable pricing for households (cheaper than commercial analyzers).

• Accuracy: Calibrated against lab standards for reliable results.

.    Misuse: Requires only a spoonful of milk per test — minimal wastage.

Durability: Built with simple, sturdy components to reduce maintenance.

The Vision

This project isn’t just about testing milk — it’s about restoring trust in what families consume daily. By giving people the power to instantly verify milk purity and nutrition, we promote a culture of health, transparency, and accountability.

Problem it Solves:
Each year, numerous students come to the realization that the course or stream they chose in their first year is not consistent with their abilities, interests, or professional aspirations. This usually results in branch transfers (e.g., CSE to ECE) or even program shifts like BBA. All these changes are stressful, time-consuming, and, at times, expensive. There is no systematic or customized means for students to analyze if a course really is for them or not prior to taking this definitive decision.

Gap in Existing Solutions:
There are generic career tests and aptitude tests, but these are not based on university-specific coursework. There is no platform that integrates academic challenges, assignments, and career opportunities to give a realistic preview of the student's fit in a branch.

Solution:
We enable students to "test-drive" their branch or course before fully committing to it. Through skill challenges, sample assignments, and branch-specific quizzes, students get a personalized "fit score" indicating how closely their strengths and interests match the course. The platform also offers curated career paths and study materials for every branch, allowing students to make a well-informed choice. Supported by AI recommendations and inputs from seniors and peers, students receive both academic and real-world insights before they switch.

Who Benefits:

Students: Have clarity and confidence in selecting the correct branch.

Universities: Minimize dropouts and transfers, enhancing academic satisfaction.

Why it Matters to Me:
I have witnessed friends suffer after making the incorrect branch selection. Changing courses halfway leads to undue stress and affects confidence. This tool can avoid confusion and enable students to make better, informed decisions.

Technical Details:
The app employs branch-specific quizzes, skill-mapping challenges, and AI-driven recommendations to determine a "fit score." An individualized dashboard leads students to courses and career paths that align with their interests and strengths.

One of the biggest problems in today's world is the over-packaging in plastics, specifically in food packaging. From takeaway boxes to grocery wrap, packaging finds its way mostly to landfills or oceans and takes centuries to decompose. This is not just harmful to the marine life and nature but has direct consequences on our health by putting microplastics into our food supply. While alternatives like paper or reusable boxes are available, these are largely too costly, breakable, or non-existent. This is where the idea of Eco-Friendly Food Packaging comes into the picture.

The idea is to create biodegradable durable and low-cost packaging from agricultural byproducts like rice husk, or corn starch. The packaging wouldn't contain harmful residues like plastic when it will break down naturally in a few months. The packaging will be in the form of cups, plates, or boxes and wrappers and is applicable to restaurants and cafeterias as well as households.

This idea benefits multiple groups. Consumers get safer packaging without harmful chemicals. Restaurants and food vendors can market themselves as eco-friendly, attracting more customers. Communities and governments benefit from reduced waste and pollution. Even farmers benefit, since agricultural byproducts that are usually discarded can be sold to manufacturers, giving them extra income.

This issue is important to me because I observe plastic trash everywhere – on the streets, in rivers, and even on my campus. For a sustainable tomorrow, packaging is one of the simplest but highly effective areas to innovate. With the advancements in material science and manufacturing technology, manufacturing such environmentally friendly packaging at large is no longer a fantasy but a reality.

By advocating for biodegradable products, we're not only fixing a problem of trash—we're creating a cleaner world. A cleaner world. A world of greater responsibility.

Food waste is a massive global issue, with nearly one-third of all food produced going to waste each year. While many existing solutions focus on awareness campaigns or small-scale donation drives, they are often fragmented and limited in scope. Current efforts usually address only one part of the problem — such as consumer awareness or restaurant donations — without connecting households, supermarkets, restaurants, and farms into a single unified system. What’s missing is a comprehensive, AI-powered platform that can track, predict, and redistribute food across all levels of the food chain.

Who Benefits from This Idea

Families: Save money by reducing grocery waste through smart recipe suggestions and inventory reminders.

Restaurants & Supermarkets: Improve efficiency with AI demand forecasting, reducing overproduction and linking surplus directly to charities.

Farmers: Gain opportunities to sell or distribute excess produce that would otherwise be lost due to market mismatches or storage challenges.

Charities & Communities: Receive fresh food supplies, helping to fight hunger on a larger scale.

The Environment: Reduced methane emissions from landfills, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly food system.

Why This Problem Matters to Me

It is heartbreaking to see good food wasted while millions of people still go hungry every day. Having witnessed this imbalance, I believe technology like AI can bridge the gap between surplus and scarcity. By predicting demand, tracking freshness, and optimizing redistribution, we can transform waste into opportunity. For me, this is not just about reducing food waste — it’s about building a fairer, more sustainable world where no meal is wasted, and no person goes hungry.

~PROBLEM STATMENT

One of the main issues Indian farmers deal with is the unpredictable nature of groundwater availability when drilling borewells. Ineffective attempts to drill borewells, a costly process, result in large financial losses for farmers. The vast majority of farmers are unaware that the Indian government provides helpful resources such as satellite-based data, groundwater mapping, soil maps, thermal maps, and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and others.

When these data exist, they are presented in very technical forms that are difficult for farmers to access or interpret. In addition, their limited digital literacy, linguistic constraints, and farmer-unfriendly tools hinder them from using this information provided by the government.   As a result of this, most farmers still use intuition or local knowledge, which results in the drilling of borewells in undesirable positions, raising their expenses and risk.

~SOLUTION

To address this issue, we propose the development of a mobile application called "Farmer's Friend App" with the specific intent to offer government-provided groundwater and soil data to farmers in an easy and convenient way.

The primary functions of this app are:

Integration of ISRO and Government Data – The application will integrate the official satellite data, soil-type maps, thermal maps, and groundwater maps to provide accurate information.

Location-Based Services (GPS) – The application will make use of GPS and verify the location of the farm of the farmer and show groundwater availability in the vicinity.

User-Friendly Interface – The application will be created in simple language with mapping and clear indicators.

Regional Language Support – Farmers can use the application in their local regional language, thus allowing it to be used anywhere across India.

Crop Suitability Recommendations – Based on soil type and availability of water, the app can recommend the best crops to be grown.

Reduction in Costs – By depicting the best place to drill the borewell, the app will help farmers avoid pointless efforts and reduce total costs.

This product bridges the gap between scientific information received by the government and real farmer needs by translating complex data into a functional tool.

~Conclusion

Though there is plenty of data available from ISRO and government sources, Indian farmers still incur losses due to failed attempts of borewell digging.  The main problem is not a dearth of information, but a lack of awareness and accessibility.  Let us empower the farmers by making them aware of underground water resources in or around their farms with the development of the "Farmer's Friend App."

The app will be an intermediary between the farmers and the satellite data of ISRO, a simple, local, and beneficial solution.  The app will reduce farmers' risks, conserve money, and boost agricultural output with location-based groundwater mapping and crop suggestions.  Ultimately, the project makes farmers across India more profitable, sustainable in their farming practice, and more efficient with their resources.

ContractIQ began with a simple insight: manual contract review is painfully slow and often overlooks critical details. Busy in-house lawyers and managers spend over an hour scrutinizing each agreement, yet hidden risks still slip through. While existing tools organize documents, they don’t improve contract terms or guide better decision-making.

To change this, we combined game theory, machine learning, and natural language processing into an easy-to-use app for your phone or browser. Just snap a photo or upload your contract file, and our AI instantly highlights key clauses, assigns a clear risk score, and suggests balanced “win-win” alternatives grounded in proven mathematical models. No more guesswork—every recommendation is backed by rigorous optimization.

You can explore different negotiation paths side by side. See how tweaks affect dispute likelihood, cash-flow timing, or enforceability before you commit. This scenario simulator brings transparency and confidence to negotiations, so you know exactly what you’re signing up for.

After the contract is finalized, ContractIQ doesn’t stop working. It tracks important dates, milestones, and compliance triggers, sending friendly reminders before renewals or deadlines. In short, we’ve transformed tedious contract review into a fast, transparent, and confidence-boosting experience that helps businesses of all sizes craft smarter, more secure agreements.

Problem:
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. It affects over 76 million people globally (and this number is projected to reach 111 million by 2040). The scary part is that most people don’t even know they have it until it’s too late, because the early stages have almost no symptoms.

Currently, testing for glaucoma requires expensive machines and specialists. In many regions, patients either can’t afford regular checkups or don’t have easy access to trained ophthalmologists. This delay in detection often means permanent damage by the time treatment starts.

Solution:
I propose building an AI-powered system that can analyze eye images (like fundus scans or OCT scans) to screen for glaucoma automatically. Here’s how it would work:

Collect and train the AI on thousands of labeled eye images from patients with and without glaucoma.

Use deep learning models to detect early abnormalities in the optic nerve that even humans might miss.

Deploy this as a low-cost mobile/desktop tool so it can be used in small clinics, rural health centers, or even on smartphones with an attachment.

Impact:

Makes glaucoma detection affordable and accessible.

Helps doctors by acting as a “second opinion” and speeds up diagnosis.

Early detection - timely treatment - fewer people losing vision unnecessarily

In today’s rapidly urbanizing India, access to timely and reliable healthcare remains a major challenge. Overcrowded hospitals, uneven distribution of medical professionals, and lack of transparency in bed and resource availability often delay treatment and put lives at risk. At the same time, mental health, though equally critical, continues to be overlooked in mainstream healthcare systems. “Smart Health – A Digital Platform for Integrated Physical and Mental Healthcare Access” aims to address these pressing issues by leveraging mobile technology. This platform envisions a unified solution where users can locate nearby doctors and hospitals, check real-time availability of beds and emergency services, and access both physical and mental health support.

Vision
To create a seamless and inclusive digital healthcare ecosystem that ensures timely access to quality physical and mental health services for every individual, regardless of socio-economic background

Mission
Our mission is to leverage technology to bridge critical gaps in healthcare by providing real-time information on doctors, hospitals, and emergency resources, while also integrating mental health support into mainstream care. Through innovation, transparency, and accessibility, Smart Health strives to empower patients, reduce delays in treatment, and promote holistic well-being in urban India.

Uses, Advantages, and Key Features
The Smart Health app serves as a one-stop platform for individuals seeking timely medical assistance, preventive care, and mental health support. Its primary use lies in enabling users to quickly locate nearby hospitals, view real-time information on available doctors, ICU beds, and emergency services, and instantly connect with ambulances during crises. By integrating both physical and mental health services, the app offers a holistic approach, giving users access to counselling, helplines, and therapy resources alongside general healthcare. The advantages of this system include reduced delays in emergency treatment, greater transparency in hospital resource allocation, and improved access to affordable and inclusive healthcare. Key features such as doctor search and appointment booking, telemedicine consultations, digital storage of health records, pharmacy and lab integration, multilingual support, and an emergency SOS button make the app practical and user-friendly. Together, these elements transform the healthcare experience into one that is faster, smarter, and more accessible for all.

Though challenges like real-time integration with hospitals and clinics, ensuring data privacy and compliance with healthcare regulations, technical barriers such as scalability, server reliability, and multilingual accessibility are faced. We can overcome them through , strong collaborations with hospitals, government agencies, and private healthcare providers  for accurate real-time data integration. Robust encryption and compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) can ensure patient data security and build user trust. Technical hurdles like scalability and multilingual accessibility can be managed by adopting cloud-based infrastructure and AI-driven language tools .Finally, awareness campaigns, pilot projects in major cities, and integration with government programs such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) can promote adoption and credibility. These steps will help establish Smart Health as a reliable and inclusive healthcare solution.

Why I Chose This Problem
I chose this problem because access to timely and reliable healthcare is one of the most urgent needs in today’s urban India. I have often observed how patients and their families struggle during emergencies, moving from one hospital to another in search of available beds or doctors, losing precious time that could save lives. At the same time, mental health continues to remain underprioritized despite its growing importance in modern society. This gap between the demand for quick, integrated care and the limited availability of transparent, accessible solutions motivated me to explore a digital platform that addresses both physical and mental healthcare needs. By leveraging technology, I believe we can reduce inefficiencies, save lives, and promote a more inclusive healthcare system.

One of the most pressing issues in urban and semi-urban areas today is the safety of women during travel. While platforms like Uber and Ola offer convenience, cases of harassment, unsafe driving, and lack of trust in male drivers still remain major concerns. The gap in the current market is the absence of a women-centric mobility platform that prioritizes safety, comfort, and empowerment.

My idea is to develop an app called HerRide, a ride-hailing service exclusively for women, by women. The drivers will be women, offering passengers a safe environment where they don’t have to constantly worry about harassment or judgment. This app not only ensures safer commuting for women but also provides employment opportunities to women in backward and underprivileged areas, who are often excluded from the workforce due to social constraints. Training programs can be integrated to help them with driving skills, basic self-defense, and digital literacy, making them self-reliant.

From a technical perspective, the app will include live GPS tracking, an SOS button linked directly to local police or emergency contacts, and ride-sharing with verified female friends for additional safety. A rating system and strict driver verification process will build trust among users.

The beneficiaries are two-fold: Women commuters – who gain safer, stress-free travel.
Women drivers – who gain a reliable source of income and financial independence.

This problem matters deeply to me because women’s safety and empowerment are fundamental for progress. If a woman has to think twice before stepping out due to safety concerns, it limits her opportunities in education, work, and personal growth. HerRide bridges this gap by combining safety, empowerment, and technology to create a sustainable impact.

The idea of an Accessibility Navigator app addresses a significant real-world problem: the difficulty people with disabilities face navigating public spaces due to a lack of detailed, real-time accessibility information.

Solving a Real-World Problem

People with mobility, visual, or auditory impairments often encounter obstacles when moving through cities—such as inaccessible entrances, broken elevators, or poorly marked pathways. These barriers can make everyday activities challenging or even impossible, leading to exclusion and reduced independence.

Gaps in Current Solutions

Existing map platforms focus primarily on road navigation and basic walking directions, often overlooking crucial accessibility factors. While some apps like AccessNow provide limited accessibility data, they have gaps such as incomplete coverage, outdated information, and lack of real-time route guidance. Most current solutions do not adapt to sudden changes (e.g., a broken lift or construction blocking a ramp), which can leave users stranded.

Who Benefits?

  • Primary Users: People with disabilities—including wheelchair users, the blind or visually impaired, those with hearing difficulties, and individuals with temporary injuries.

  • Secondary Users: The elderly, parents with strollers, and logistics or delivery personnel who need accessible routes.

  • Buyers/Stakeholders: City governments and municipalities seeking to meet accessibility mandates; businesses aiming to attract diverse customers; advocacy groups supporting inclusive environments.

  • Wider Community: Accessible routes help everyone, making public spaces more navigable and reducing social exclusion.

Why This Problem Matters?

Personal and societal dignity is tied to autonomy in public spaces. Inaccessible infrastructure creates inequality and prevents people with disabilities from fully participating in everyday social and economic activities. Addressing this challenge not only improves lives but also demonstrates a commitment to an inclusive, fair society.

Technical Details

  • The app aggregates accessibility data from city records, business owners, users, and Iot sensors (e.g., elevators, doors).

  • Uses real-time reporting and AI to update accessibility status, suggesting the best available routes.

  • Integrates crowd-sourced updates, allowing users to report new obstacles or helpful features instantly.

  • Offers voice navigation, customizable alerts (e.g., tactile or vibration cues), and universal design principles to ensure usability by all.

Overall, the Accessibility Navigator fills a crucial market and social need, pushing beyond existing map apps by focusing on real, actionable guidance for users who need it most. It not only empowers individuals but strengthens communities and aligns with government goals for smart, accessible cities.

 Idea: District-to-District Shared Ride Platform

Problem
Inter-district travel is a daily challenge for students, workers, and families. State buses are often overcrowded, irregular, and slow. Taxis, on the other hand, are reliable but too expensive for regular travel. Meanwhile, hundreds of cars already travel between districts with only one driver inside and multiple empty seats. This mismatch results in wasted fuel, higher travel costs, and inconvenience for passengers.

The Gap
Current ride-sharing platforms such as Ola and Uber focus mainly on intra-city travel. BlaBlaCar-type services exist but are not widely used in smaller towns and semi-urban areas in India. Public transport is affordable but lacks flexibility, while private options are comfortable but unaffordable. There is no widely adopted, low-cost, safe solution dedicated to inter-district shared mobility.

The Idea
My idea is to create a district-to-district shared ride app that connects passengers with car owners already traveling on the same route.

  • Passengers would pay just ₹20–30 more than a bus ticket, enjoying car comfort at near-bus prices.
  • Drivers save money by sharing diesel/petrol costs with passengers.
  • Features include AI route matching, verified profiles, GPS tracking, SOS button, and flexible pickup/drop points.
  • Offline support (via SMS or phone booking) could help rural users without smartphones.

Who Benefits

  • Passengers (students, employees, families): affordable, safe, and comfortable rides.
  • Drivers: reduced travel costs and extra savings.
  • Community: fewer cars with empty seats, lower traffic, and reduced carbon footprint.

Why It Matters to Me
As a student, I have personally faced the difficulty of costly and inconvenient inter-district travel. At the same time, I’ve seen many cars traveling half-empty. This idea is close to me because it turns unused car seats into opportunities—reducing costs, saving fuel, and making travel more accessible for everyone.

Idea Post:
Roads are the lifeline of transport in India, yet they are among the most dangerous places to be on. Thousands of accidents occur annually due to driver tiredness, inadequate resting spots, dangerous routes, and slow emergency response. Cab drivers, truckers, and even private travelers all share the same problems: long distances without good support networks. Present apps indicate maps and routes, but they lack the most critical factor—driver protection and intelligent planning on highways.

My concept is SafeHighway, a mobile app that makes driving on highways safer as well as smarter. It marries safety notifications with intelligent route planning and live assistance. Some of the main features are:

Fatigue Alerts: The app tracks driving time and reminds users to take a break, lowering accidents due to fatigue.

Verified Rest Stops: Drivers can locate the closest fuel stops, service stations, rest stops, and dining points that are safe and trustworthy.

Emergency Help Button: During accidents or breakdowns, drivers can press a single button to automatically connect to 100 (police helpline) and live location share with emergency services.

Safe Route Planner: Provides the safest route with real-time traffic updates, accident hotspots, and prominent toll charges before embarking on the journey.

Fastag Info: Also displays annual Fastag fee information, balance status, and anticipated savings at toll plazas, thus saving time spent in queues.

Safety Alerts: Informs drivers regarding overspeeding zones, dangerous turns, and risky road zones.

Community Updates: A platform where drivers can post traffic blocks, accidents, or danger in real time to assist fellow users on the same highway.

Advantages:

Drivers remain safe, informed, and save time on long distances.

Emergency responders and police can respond to accident locations sooner.

The public enjoys fewer accidents, safer transportation of goods, and improved road manners.

Toll transparency and Fastag integration also save drivers money and time.

Why It Matters:
Daily news is filled with reports about horrific highway accidents that might have been averted with necessary warnings or quicker assistance. As learners, we are motivated to use technology to address actual issues. With SafeHighway, we can design a tool that not only saves lives from accidents but also enhances the quality of driving experience on Indian highways. This concept is personal to me because I think road safety is not merely about constructing highways, but about saving the people who travel upon them.

OptiMeal - Plan today. Save tomorrow

Have you ever wondered how much food gets wasted , not only from plates but directly from the kitchen (untouched food) ??

In most institutions/ offices/schools, food is cooked based on the number of students on campus /employees/workers ,not how many actually want the meal . And also , if based on number, then not on the no of items they want to eat. Hence, there’s a mismatch between what’s cooked and what’s consumed.

The problem

Food wastage is one of the world’s most pressing issues, with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimating that nearly 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted globally each year, accounting for roughly one-third of total production. In India alone, around 40% of food produced is wasted annually, despite millions going hungry daily. While food waste is often associated with leftovers on plates, a significant portion also comes from overproduction in canteens, corporate offices, institutions, and schools where meals are cooked in bulk. The variation between what is prepared and what is actually consumed leads to bowls of untouched food being discarded. That’s lakhs of rupees down the drain and meals that could’ve fed thousands of people.(FSSAI) 15-20% of cooked food is wasted from private institutions due to over preparation.

Global food waste costs the world economy $1 trillion each year (FAO).

It's not just food we waste , it's litres of water, resources, hours of labour etc..

The solution

What if we could fix that- with one small habit change?

My idea is to create an app that allows individuals to pre-select their meals a day in advance. Employees, students, or residents would be shown the menu for the next day and can opt into specific dishes along with approximate portion sizes. This data would be collected and analyzed by the kitchen staff to prepare accurate quantities of each item, minimizing unnecessary cooking.

And yes! LESS OVERPRODUCTION! LESS WASTE! MORE EFFICIENCY !!

The technical backbone of the app would include real-time dashboards for kitchen managers, predictive analytics to track food preferences over time, and AI-based demand forecasting to improve accuracy further.

This innovation directly supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), as reduced wastage lowers greenhouse gas emissions from discarded food.

Currently, there is a gap in the market—many institutions lack a systematic mechanism to match demand with supply. Some donate leftovers to orphanages or distribute food among workers, but large amounts are still wasted.

The benificials

By adopting this app, institutions save costs on raw materials and cooking resources, while individuals benefit from having food they genuinely want to eat. Any small leftover quantities can be channeled more efficiently to workers or delivered to nearby NGOs.

This isn’t just about food, its about thoughtful consumption, better planning and helping people we may never meet.

If every student simply made a meal choice in advance, we could save food, money and lives- all with a single tap.

This problem resonates deeply with me because I have often witnessed heaps of untouched food thrown away while many people outside go hungry. Food is the most basic necessity—we work for it, and life revolves around it. With this app, I aim not only to reduce waste but also to ensure that resources are valued, hunger is alleviated, and sustainability is prioritized.

One of the biggest problems today is the disconnect between Gen Z and their cultural roots. Young people are growing up in a world dominated by global entertainment like anime, Marvel movies, and K-dramas, while their own ancient heritage—the Sanatan Itihasas (Ramayana, Mahabharata) and Puranas—often feels distant , complicated, or “too religious.” These texts are not mythology but authentic history, filled with lessons on dharma, leadership, morality, and resilience. However, they are vast, written in thousands of verses, and time-consuming to study in depth. For Gen Z, who prefer engaging, fast-paced formats, the traditional way of learning these scriptures feels overwhelming.

The current solutions—books, TV serials, or scattered online content—do not bridge this gap effectively. Old serials feel outdated, books require too much time, and many online resources oversimplify or misrepresent the stories. What is missing is a modern, high-quality storytelling medium that presents Sanatan history as it is in a way today’s youth can relate to.

My idea is to create anime adaptations of the Itihasas and Puranas. Anime is already popular among Gen Z worldwide because it combines stunning visuals, emotional depth, and powerful character arcs. By retelling episodes like the Kurukshetra war, Rama’s exile, or Narsimha’s avatar in anime form, these eternal stories can be both entertaining and educational. The anime format would allow us to showcase intense battles, moral dilemmas, what is dharma , how to live life , the purpose of life , and divine wisdom in a style that today’s youth deeply connect with.

The benefits are widespread:

  • Gen Z gains access to timeless guidance in a format they already love.

  • Parents and educators get an engaging medium to pass down traditions.

  • Communities preserve and share Sanatan history globally, countering the misconception that it is “myth.”

This matters to me because these texts are not just stories—they are guides for every step of life. They teach us how to uphold dharma, face challenges with courage, and make righteous choices. By adapting them into anime, we ensure this wisdom reaches the next generation in a form they will respect, enjoy, and carry forward.

Regarding traffic congestion

One of the biggest problems humans face at this time is the idea of getting stuck in traffic. Traffic usually scares people as they think about how they might get struck by an accident or they might get stuck, and it may take them a lot of time to reach home. Traffic happens because of an uncontrollable number of vehicles travelling on the main road. This is where the idea of a new data structure came to me.

This data structure is basically about controlling each traffic signal with the help of data structures and check the frequency of vehicles at certain times, and then adjusting the signal accordingly, cooperating with other signals simultaneously. This system can help the police force as there would be less traffic congestion on the road, and people will be able to travel faster during traffic hours.

The benefits are huge, as people don't have to be scared of reaching any place late or that they are stuck somewhere. One more thing is that it can be modified in a better way by giving more time on roads that lead to a hospital, so that even a patient might not get stuck.

Yes, there might be challenges in implementing it, but after a period of time, when people start recognizing how impactful it it will be very useful for traffic congestion.
