ENGINUITY- 'Engineering + Ingenuity' symbolizing smart, innovative learning resources for engineers

Real-World Problem
Engineering students often lack accessible and well-structured study resources. Many of them search for a physical book in their college library, but they cannot find one because these books go out of stock at the beginning of the semester and take the whole semester to restock them, due to which many students rely on scattered PDFs or unreliable online notes. This makes exam preparation and practical understanding difficult, particularly for students who depend on the library as their primary source of study and reference material.

Gaps in Current Solutions/Market
1. Popular eBook platforms (Amazon Kindle, Google Books) provide generic content but lack engineering-focused, syllabus-aligned collections.

2. University portals mostly contain outdated PDFs, with limited interactivity.

3. Free resources (like random PDFs on forums) often have copyright issues, incomplete content, or poor scanning quality.

4. Existing ed-tech companies focus heavily on video lectures, ignoring students who prefer digital reading + self-paced learning.

Who Benefits
Students: Easier access to syllabus-aligned ebooks, solved examples, and research papers at a lower cost.

Professors/Institutes: A central repository to recommend and align with coursework.

Community of Engineers: Students from financially weaker backgrounds gain affordable access, leveling the playing field.

Buyers/Investors: Captures the underserved market of study materials for niche branches (civil, aerospace, metallurgy, etc.).

Why This Problem Matters
Engineering students represent a massive population in countries like India, yet many drop out or struggle due to a lack of structured, affordable learning material. Having faced or witnessed this struggle, I see the opportunity to create a knowledge bridge where cost, accessibility, and quality learning material are no longer barriers. In the long run, this solves not only academic challenges but also strengthens the engineering talent pipeline for industries.

Optional Technical Details
The platform can be built as:

  1. A mobile-first eBook library with offline reading.
  2. AI-driven personalization: Suggest resources based on the student’s branch, year, or syllabus.
  3. Interactive ebooks: Embedded formulas, 3D mechanical diagrams, and code snippets.
  4. Subscription model: Freemium access with premium add-ons (practice papers, advanced references).
  5. Institutional integration: Colleges can subscribe to give their students legitimate, syllabus-tailored content.

Mental health is often overlooked among students, especially in competitive academic environments. Many hesitate to open up due to stigma, fear of judgment, or lack of access to professionals. This inspired me to create MindBridge, a platform that connects students anonymously for peer-to-peer support, guided by trained mentors and AI-powered emotional check-ins.

What it does:

MindBridge allows users to share their struggles through text or voice without revealing their identity. It uses AI mood detection to gently suggest mindfulness activities, journaling prompts, or escalation to professional help if needed. The anonymity lowers the barrier for seeking help, making students feel safe and supported.

Who benefits:

Students facing stress, anxiety, or isolation benefit directly. Universities can also use aggregated, anonymized insights to improve campus well-being programs.

Why it matters to me:

As a student, I’ve seen friends struggle silently with pressure and burnout. Sometimes, they just needed someone to listen without judgment. MindBridge was born from the belief that empathy and connection can save live

The streets of Delhi tell a compelling story about India's environmental challenge. With the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) strict 10-year age limit on diesel vehicles, thousands of well-maintained cars are prematurely sent to the scrapyard each year, creating a massive economic and environmental burden. This is the real-world problem our startup, rEVolve EV, aims to solve. Instead of scrapping these valuable assets, we offer a sustainable, certified, and cost-effective alternative: retrofitting.

This problem matters deeply to me because I believe in the power of innovation to address waste and pollution. I've seen firsthand how the bond between a person and their vehicle is broken by a regulation that, while well-intentioned, fails to consider an alternative. Our mission is to keep these vehicles on the road, breathing new, clean life into them while preserving their sentimental value.

The current market has two major gaps. First, while government regulations now permit retrofitting, the number of certified, trustworthy retrofitters remains low. Second, the cost for converting larger vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks is often prohibitively high. We aim to bridge this gap by developing and gaining ARAI certification for a line of retrofitting kits that are not only affordable but also specifically designed for popular, heavier models, offering a realistic path to electric mobility.

Our technical solution involves a complete powertrain replacement. We remove the existing internal combustion engine, fuel tank, and exhaust system. In their place, we install a high-efficiency electric motor, a powerful lithium-ion battery pack, and an intelligent control unit that manages power delivery, regenerative braking, and charging. Our process is transparent, RTO-approved, and backed by comprehensive warranties on the key components. By focusing on certified kits and a professional installation process, we ensure that every retrofitted vehicle is reliable, safe, and fully legal to operate, providing peace of mind and a greener future for its owner.

Students are expected to integrate notes, textbooks, class recordings, slides, and screenshots harmoniously. Although all these are useful, the obstacle lies in the origination and structuring to ensure that revision and retrieval are effortless and not stressful. Many students do not have the luxury of time and their notes are merely collections of scribbled down last minute notes the night before the exam; the notes, indeed, have not been studied. Services provided by Google Drive or note taking application have a frustrating gap of inability to connect handwritten and digital content lacking profound value in aiding productivity.

What I have in mind is a Smart Notes Organizer - an intelligent system that functions as a digital repository or a central repository for all your study materials. Students can take photographs of the handwritten notes and the system will automatically convert and classify them as per their subjects and topics. It can accept external files in the form of slides, PDFs, images, and even searchable content. With the system's AI-based tagging, students need only type phrases as “Fourier Transform” or “Binary Trees” to search all files connected to those even if the files are in different formats.

The further the organizer can offer auto-generated summaries, flashcards, and quizzes to foster revision. Students also have the option to share files and notes with one another to encourage a collaborative work environment and peer-to-peer assistance.

This idea matters to me personally because I have experienced the messy notes and disorganized files during exam times, making the entire procedure stressful. A tool of this kind would surely save time and help learning for students everywhere.

Simply said, the solution tries to combine AI and education so studying is smarter, faster and less stressful.

Problem:

Mental health is one of the most critical yet overlooked challenges today, especially among students and working professionals. Many individuals suffer from anxiety, depression, or stress but hesitate to seek professional help because of fear of judgment, high costs, or lack of awareness about available resources. Moreover, most existing solutions either focus solely on professional therapy (which is expensive and limited) or simple mood tracking apps that don’t offer guidance or interaction. As a result, people are left feeling isolated, with no easy way to practice self-awareness or track mental well-being.

Solution – MindCare:

MindCare is a mobile application that combines peer-to-peer mental health support with a guided mindfulness and wellness journal

  • Users can anonymously share their feelings or challenges and receive constructive, empathetic comments from trained peer counselors or the community.
  • The app allows scheduling of one-on-one video calls with trained peers, providing a safe and judgment-free space for real-time emotional support.

  • Alongside this, a simple Mood Tracker and Wellness Journal lets users log daily emotions using emojis and short notes.

  • Based on their inputs, MindCare suggests personalized mindfulness exercises, breathing techniques, positive affirmations, and small daily habits to improve mental well-being.

  • Weekly reports help users visualize mood patterns, understand triggers, and track progress.

 Who Benefits:

  • Students and professionals struggling with stress or anxiety.

  • Individuals wanting to practice self-care in a safe, affordable way.

  • The community, by promoting mental health awareness and reducing stigma.

This problem matters to me because mental well-being is key to personal growth, and access to simple, affordable support can improve millions of lives.

Why This Matters to Me:

I have personally seen my friends struggle silently with anxiety, stress, and depression, especially during exam periods or personal challenges. Some of them felt overwhelmed but didn’t know where to turn or were too afraid to ask for help.I also faced moments when I felt stressed and wished there was an easy way to talk or track how I was feeling. That’s why I came up with this idea to provide a simple, safe space where people can express themselves, get peer support, and develop small habits for mental well-being.I don’t want anyone to stay stuck in silence like I’ve seen so many do.

bills are difficult for most to keep up with. Receipts get lost, deadlines are forgotten, and people do not realize how much they are spending. At tax time, people struggle to do the documentation, which leads to mistakes, missed deductions. The real problem is that there is no inexpensive and simple way to stay on top of it.
  • Gaps in Existing Market
These requirements are not fulfilled by current solutions. Most of the apps out there are business oriented and contain too many complex features that normal users do not require. Some charge outrageous subscription fees, rendering them unusable by students, freelancers, and small households. Hiring an accountant is also beyond the budgets of most people. This leaves a clear vacuum for a tool that is simple, reliable, and lowcost.
  • Proposed Solution
My idea is a smart finance app that will act as a personal financial aid assistant. It will be easy for the user to capture bills and receipts using the phone camera or by uploading them. OCR software within the app will scan the details such as amount, vendor, date, and tax. All the data will be stored securely in encrypted cloud storage and will be automatically organized in categories such as food, travel, utility, or education.
The application will also generate neat reports that can be directly submitted for tax returns. It will remind users before all important due dates and suggest money saving tips depending on an individual's spending habits. At just one hundred and twenty five rupees per month, it is an easy solution for anyone wanting to manage expenses without agony or perplexity.
  • Who Benefits
Effective financial management impacts us all, including students and freelancers, families and household budgets, and small business operators. Lack of organization causes undue stress, money loss, and financial savings opportunities lost. Such a tool gives its users the power to keep their money in check, lessens financial worry, and encourages improved financial behavior.
  • Why this Problem Matters for Me                                                                                                                                                                                                         Financial management is important because it affects everyone in their daily lives. I care about this issue because having a simple and affordable tool for staying organized can help people surround themselves with less stress, save money, and ultimately, make better financial decisions.
  • Technical Details
The app utilizes optical character recognition to pull essential information from receipts and bills. All information is encrypted and held securely in the cloud. Expense categorization is done automatically, and AI algorithms may analyze spending habits to offer personalized advice. Reminders are controlled by integrated notifications, making the app functional and simple to use on any smartphone.

PawHaven – Pet Therapy & Adoption Hubs

The Problem-

India is home to millions of stray dogs and cats who deserve love, care, and safety. At the same time, students, professionals, and families are silently struggling with stress, loneliness, and anxiety. I believe there is a powerful connection between these two problems that is often overlooked. Animals have an incredible ability to heal us emotionally, and in return, we can give them the homes and care they deserve.

The Solution-

PawHaven will create Pet Therapy & Adoption Hubs in campuses, offices, and community spaces. These hubs will be clean, welcoming centers where:

1. People can spend time with vaccinated, cared-for dogs and cats to experience joy, comfort, and stress relief.

2. Regular therapy sessions and memberships will be offered, much like wellness subscriptions.

3. Adoption drives will connect families with pets looking for homes.

4. Revenue will come from session fees, monthly subscriptions, NGO collaborations, and corporate wellness programs.

Each visit will help fund the care of the animals, creating a sustainable cycle of love and healing: people support the animals, and the animals in turn heal people.

Who will Benefit:-

1. People - Emotional healing, stress relief, companionship.

2. Animals - Safety, care, and higher chances of finding a home.

3. Community - Fewer strays, cleaner neighborhoods, stronger bonds.

Why It Matters to Me-

For me, dogs and cats have always been more than just animals, they are family, friends, and silent healers. Whenever I felt low, they gave me unconditional love. With PawHaven, I want to share that feeling with others. This is not just a business idea, it is my dream to create a space where humans and animals heal each other.

Arogya Express - Mobile Clinics.

In India, particularly in rural and semi-urban India, access to primary healthcare remains a big issue. People in rural areas travel long distances to reach hospitals. The closest hospital to a village would be around 40 to 50 km away, government hospitals and health centers tend to be understaffed or poorly maintained with lacking equipment. That usually results in delayed treatment and avoidable deaths. Private hospitals are focused in the city areas and are too costly, hence inaccessible.

Present solutions by the government are evidently not effective since government facilities have no doctors and machinery, and NGO efforts are small in number and based on donations. At present, there is no low-cost model that guarantees basic quality healthcare which is accessible and reaches the poor and marginalized communities.

Arogya Express is an extremely promising solution to all of the above issues. It achieves this through mobile health vans that are fitted with diagnostic equipment (BP machine, glucose meter, ECG) and telemedicine facilities linking patients to urban physicians. Basic drugs are administered on the site, and patient information is safely maintained in electronic health records.

Who benefits from this?
The major beneficiaries are state governments, NGOs, and rural families, while communities overall gain from early detection of disease, decreased hospital burden, and enhanced overall health. This allows for basic healthcare to be reached even in rural areas without having to incur high costs.

This issue concerns me because I personally believe that healthcare is not a luxury but a fundamental necessity. I have come across a few newspaper reports where people lost their lives because of the unavailability of basic healthcare centers. People who had extremely minor illness lost their lives because of negligence and unavailability of hospitals. If India is able to get ATMs to each village, we should also be able to get ATMs for healthcare (mobile clinics) to people at large.

Technical Details
This project would need moderate seed funding to fund vehicle acquisition, medical equipment, telemedicine infrastructure, and training. With the right partnerships, Arogya Express can scale across the country, making sure that no Indian goes without basic healthcare.

Campus ride-sharing app

As a day scholar at Mahindra University, I face a common problem every evening. My classes often finish around 6:30 PM, and at that time it becomes difficult to book a reliable cab or auto. Even when I do manage to book, many rides get cancelled at the last moment, causing delays and unnecessary stress. At the same time, I see many students coming to campus in their own cars, often driving alone with empty seats.

This gap gave me the idea of creating a Campus Ride-Sharing App exclusively for Mahindra University students. The app would connect students traveling to similar locations so they can share rides. Vehicle owners can list their available seats, while riders can request to join. The cost of fuel can then be shared among everyone, making the trip economical for both sides.

Unlike general ride-sharing platforms, this app will be limited to verified Mahindra University students and staff, ensuring trust and safety. Features such as in-app verification, live location sharing, SOS alerts, and secure payments will make the system reliable.

The direct beneficiaries are students like me, who will save money, avoid last-minute cancellations, and reach home on time. Vehicle owners also benefit by reducing their fuel costs, while the community gains through reduced traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions.

This problem matters to me because I face it every single day. A student-focused ride-sharing solution will not only save time and money but also foster stronger connections within the Mahindra University community.

We are what we eat

We know the importance of food, both in quantity (calories, macronutrients) and in quality (vitamins, minerals, ease of digestion etc).

Yet we are int he middle of a global food crisis, with over 1.3 billion tons of food wasted annually yet millions suffer not only from hunger and lack of food, but also malnutrition and other deficiencies. Existing apps and services either act as inventory management for food stocks or as calorie and macro tracker apps. This is where NutriSave can come in.

An intuitive mobile app would scan barcodes and receipts of groceries and keep track of expiry dates, creating a digital pantry of sorts, allowing the end user to have timely reminders of food nearing the expiration date.

For foodstuffs bought from marketplaces without barcodes (Ex:- local vendors for vegetables and fruits, butcher shops for meats), The app would take in other user inputs (weight of food, image of food etc) to maintain accuracy above the current list of macro tracking apps

But unlike other management apps, NutriSave would go further, taking in the data and analyzing the nutritional content of the food (data available publicly--- https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/ ) and give custom meals based on the foodstuffs available.

Ex:-  If a family has a shelf filled with a healthy amount of carbs but less fibre and vitamin c, the app would suggest a simple stif fry recipe with the near expiring vegetables and a dash of lemon juice.

A.I. can be implemented effectively to manage the databasing and give regular updates alongside giving cost-effective, yet appetizing meal plans based on existing variations created in cuisines aroudn the world

Who benefits:-

Consumers:- Individuals and  families will be
                                                 - Spending less money

                                                 - Wasting less food

                                                 - Being more healthier over all

Food banks:- Will receive updates on surplus foods

Communities:- Less bio-waste, reduced landfill wastes, improved health

We shoudl not stand to live in a world with has both a global hunger crisis and food waste situation.

NutriSave brings a consumer oriented solution, making sure that the user makes smarter, healthier and sustainable decisions while shopping.

Help Hanumaan – A Safety Device for Women

One of the biggest problems in our society today is women’s safety. We keep reading about incidents where women are harassed, attacked, or followed, and honestly it feels like we are not doing enough to protect them. I thought – what if there was a personal protection device that could actually shield women in dangerous situations? That’s where the idea of Help Hanumaan came to me.

The concept is simple but powerful. Imagine a small device that fits in your pocket, like a compact gadget. In normal times, it just sits quietly, but the moment a woman feels unsafe, she just has to say the words: “Help Hanumaan.” Immediately, the device opens up like an umbrella, but instead of just covering from rain, it expands into a protective bubble around her. This bubble works like an invisible wall—no one can get inside. Anyone who tries to force their way through gets an electric shock that pushes them back. The woman inside is completely safe, unharmed, and protected from all directions.

When the danger is over, she simply says “Thanks Hanumaan” and the device folds back into her pocket.

Now, is this technically easy? Of course, it will need serious innovation. It could use foldable carbon-fiber frames for the umbrella-like structure, transparent polycarbonate shields for the walls, and a low-voltage electric fence mechanism that only activates outward, not inward. The voice recognition system can be run by a small AI chip so only the owner’s commands are accepted. A rechargeable battery could power the shocks and the expansion system. Even though this sounds futuristic, with today’s technology in wearables, AI, and smart materials, it doesn’t feel impossible.

The benefits are huge. Women can walk freely without constantly worrying about who’s behind them. Families would feel more secure when their daughters, sisters, or mothers are out late. It could also act as a deterrent—if society knows that women carry such protection, harassment cases may drop.

The stakeholders are everyone:

Women who gain confidence and safety.

Families who stop living in fear.

Law enforcement, because such devices can reduce the burden of constant patrolling.

Government and policymakers, since this fits into initiatives for women empowerment and safety.

Even startups and manufacturers who can produce these devices at scale, creating jobs and innovation in India.

The truth is, women’s safety is not just a “women’s issue,” it’s a societal issue. Unsafe streets and public spaces affect everyone, including economic growth. If women feel unsafe to study, work, or travel, our whole society loses out on their talent, creativity, and contribution. By introducing something like Help Hanumaan, we’re not just giving a safety tool—we’re giving freedom and confidence back to half the population.

Yes, there will be challenges—cost, design, making it lightweight, ensuring it works in emergencies—but isn’t it worth trying? Even if we build a prototype that shows the possibility, it can inspire more innovations.

Modular Tiles for Roads in India

Everyone in India has experienced potholes. Whether you’re driving a car, riding a bike, or just walking, bad roads are something we all complain about. Every monsoon, roads are flooded or broken, and within a few months, potholes come back no matter how many times they’re patched. This not only makes travel unsafe but also costs the government and common people a lot of money.

My idea is to make roads using modular tiles instead of regular tar or concrete. Imagine large, strong tiles—like puzzle pieces—that lock into each other to form the road. If one piece breaks, we don’t have to dig up the whole road, we just replace that one tile. This will save time, money, and effort.

These tiles won’t be like normal ones used in houses. They’ll be made from special materials that can handle trucks, buses, and heavy traffic. They can also soak up rainwater, so instead of water collecting on the surface and causing floods, it can go underground to recharge groundwater. The tiles will be designed to survive heat in summers, rains in monsoons, and even winters in the north.

The best part is, this system is easy to maintain. A road that usually takes months to repair could be fixed in a few hours with modular tiles. This means less traffic jams, fewer accidents, and smoother travel.

Who benefits? Everyone!

Citizens get safer, smoother rides and fewer accidents.

Government saves crores on repairs every year.

Businesses save money because transport becomes faster.

Young people get new jobs because factories will need workers to make these tiles.

Right now, India loses a lot of money every year because of bad roads—fuel wastage in traffic jams, late deliveries, damaged vehicles, and accidents. If we solve this, it’s not just about comfort, it’s about the economy too.

I believe modular road tiles can really change things. Yes, it sounds ambitious, but someone has to start. If we can make strong, weather-proof, and affordable tiles, India can have roads that last longer, save money, reduce flooding, and even generate jobs.

This is not just about roads. It’s about giving India better infrastructure, about dreaming of safe, smart cities, and about solving a problem that affects all of us every single day.
