Insurance plans may cover replacement, but they do not prevent the inconvenience, data loss, or environmental waste caused by broken devices. This gap in the market leaves users with partial solutions rather than true preventive protection.

My idea is to create a corner-based auto-protection system embedded directly into devices. The system uses four small chips located at the four corners of a phone or laptop. When the device begins to fall, the chips detect rapid acceleration and generate waves to analyze distance and orientation. Once the system identifies an imminent collision, a thin yet strong iron-like layer automatically deploys at each corner, forming protective shields. These shields absorb impact and prevent direct contact between the delicate surfaces of the device and the ground. By focusing on corners—the most vulnerable points where cracks usually start—this system ensures maximum protection without adding unnecessary bulk.

When we collect over 100 households, this means an additional 300-500 minutes (5–8 hours) of manual segregation work compared to collecting segregated waste and many places often ignore waste segregation and dump them in the open which proves waste disposal is a pervasive problem worldwide, leading to environmental pollution, health hazards, and resource wastage. One of the biggest challenges is the lack of awareness and clarity on how to correctly segregate and dispose of different types of waste. Contaminated recyclables, mixed garbage, and hazardous waste often end up in landfills or incinerators, causing damage to ecosystems and increasing greenhouse gas emissions. This app directly addresses this problem by empowering individuals with easy-to-understand, location-specific guidance on how to dispose of their waste properly, thereby reducing contamination and improving recycling rates.

There already exist few garbage management apps but most suffer from the following limitations:

Some solutions already exist in the market, such as portable UV sanitizers for personal helmets and large self-service sanitizing stations in public areas. While these approaches are promising, they have limitations. Portable versions are usually restricted to UV treatment only, without active drying or freshness restoration. On the other hand, large sanitizing kiosks are not convenient for everyday use, and they often require significant investment and space, making them less suitable for small rental businesses.

My idea is to develop a portable helmet freshener and sanitizer system that combines the best of both worlds. The device would be compact and easy to use: simply place the helmet inside, and within 10–15 minutes, the system would sanitize it using UV-C light to kill germs, a built-in fan to circulate air and remove moisture, and optional fragrance cartridges to restore freshness. Unlike sprays that just mask odor, this tackles the root cause by eliminating bacteria and sweat buildup.

The current solutions are basic, regular bottles or phone reminders that don’t adapt to people’s lifestyle, activity, or environment. That’s where my idea of Kairo was born.

Kairo is a smart water bottle that not only stores water but actively keeps track and takes care of your hydration. The bottle has built in sensors to track how much water you’ve consumed throughout the day. If you haven’t had a sip in a while, it gently glows and vibrates as a reminder. Unlike fixed timer reminders, Kairo connects to a small companion app that considers your activity level, the weather, and even your personal hydration goals. For example, if you are going for a run on a hot day, it will remind you more frequently, but if you are resting indoors, it adjusts automatically.

Technically, it could use a flow sensor to measure water intake, a rechargeable battery, and Bluetooth to connect to the Kairo app. The glowing alert can run on efficient LED lights, and the vibration motor can be as small as those in fitness bands.

The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and the ever-growing dependence on portable electronics have created an urgent demand for accessible and reliable charging infrastructure. In India, EV ownership is expected to rise significantly in the next decade, yet one of the biggest obstacles remains the lack of sufficient and affordable charging stations. On the other hand, students and professionals often struggle to find charging facilities for their smartphones, laptops, and e-bikes in public spaces, campuses, or transit hubs. Existing charging setups are mostly grid-powered, which indirectly contributes to higher carbon emissions when the electricity supplied comes from coal-based sources. This highlights the need for a sustainable, decentralized, and multipurpose solution.

 

My idea is to design and implement Solar-Powered Smart Charging Stations that can serve as a clean energy alternative for both electric vehicles and small electronic devices. The stations would be equipped with solar rooftop panels to generate renewable energy and battery storage units to ensure continuous operation even at night or during cloudy weather. The system would include:

 

  • Multi-port charging hubs for mobile phones, laptops, and e-bikes.
  • EV charging points (normal and fast-charging options).
  • Battery banks to store excess energy and balance fluctuations.
  • Mobile app integration for digital payments, slot booking, and energy usage tracking.
  • Smart monitoring system to measure solar power generation, energy storage, and usage in real time.

Similarly, device charging kiosks are common in airports or malls but are grid-dependent. My Idea:
NutriPal is a smart meal-planning and food management app. Its main feature is “fridge-sync”: you snap a picture of your fridge or pantry, and NutriPal’s AI identifies ingredients and suggests quick, healthy recipes. It also adjusts to personal needs—like high-protein meals before workouts or light meals during exam weeks.

Vaultem - Health Document Management App

Every time we visit a hospital or a specialist, we leave with a pile of reports, prescriptions, and test results. Over time, these papers get scattered, misplaced, or forgotten. The next time we go to a doctor, we either spend half the time digging through files or worse, repeating the same blood test or X-ray just because the doctor doesn’t have the full history. That’s the gap I’m trying to solve with this project. If we can manage our finances in apps, why not our health?

Right now, health records are a mess. Some hospitals are going digital, but even then reports are sent over WhatsApp or email. Later, when you actually need them, you’re scrolling endlessly through chats trying to find a “Blood Report – 16th June.pdf” (and of course, you never find it). Others still hand you bulky files, and if you visit multiple specialists, you end up carrying a mini-library of medical papers.

Governments have tried digital health ID systems, but hardly anyone uses them. They’re either too complicated, not user-friendly, or not trusted. What’s missing is a simple, clear, and personal way to keep all your health documents in one place, accessible whenever you or your doctor need them.

 

About the project:

Vaultem (meaning vault them) is basically a digital health document manager. It stores everything like test results, X-rays, prescriptions, hospital visit reports in one organized timeline. Each visit is linked to the hospital/doctor, with categories like dentist, eye, blood tests, heart, etc. Old papers can simply be scanned and uploaded. New reports can be directly added by doctors or labs.

For example: -if you visit a cardiologist, you’ll have the report saved under “Heart” with the date and doctor’s name. Next time you go to another specialist, you don’t have to dig through WhatsApp or shuffle papers, just open the app, and everything’s there in order.

 

Who Benefits-

Patients: No more lost reports, no more repeated tests, no more confusion about what happened when. One place to manage reports without mixing them up.
Doctors: Saves time, they can instantly see the patient’s medical history and avoid redoing the basics.
Community: Less medical waste, less duplication, and better informed treatments overall.

I’ve personally experienced how frustrating it is : once I went to a new dentist and I discovered that I had to carry a bag of documents from different dental hospitals because i took a treatment when i was 15 and they needed to check whether that could potentially affect the current ortho treatment iam going to take and it was so messed up, it took a while to arrange all of them in order of the date as they were from different clinics. It took the dentist some time to understand the history. Also the OPG X-ray (which is important to check the condition of the bone) that I had done 1 year earlier went missing. The doctor asked me to redo it (He referred me to another place for that) which wasted time, money, and honestly felt unnecessary.

The main problem lies in the time-sensitivity of household issues. A leaking pipe, an electrical short circuit, or a broken appliance often requires urgent attention, yet current solutions sometimes take hours or even days to confirm a booking. My app addresses this gap by functioning like “Uber for house services,” where verified service providers are instantly matched with nearby customers in real time. This allows for handling of important tasks within minutes instead of hours.

Both customers and service providers benefit from this concept. Customers receive prompt, transparent, and reliable services at reasonable rates, while the workers receive stable employment opportunities, enhanced digital exposure, and prompt payments.In addition, society overall benefits from greater trustworthiness and accountability since the app will have background checks, ratings, and customer reviews for every worker.

The band continuously records brain activity and runs a machine learning model trained on epilepsy datasets. Its goal is to predict seizures at least two minutes in advance—a breakthrough, since even such a short window can allow patients to take fast-acting medication or move to a safe place.

The concept is simple but transformative. From the outside, NeuroBand looks like a regular fashion accessory, not a medical device—making it comfortable and socially acceptable. Inside, it’s a continuous brain-monitoring and early-warning system. Notifications are sent directly to the patient’s phone, ensuring seamless usability.
