This delay puts patients’ lives at serious risk. Current solutions are limited, and there is no widely adopted, automated way to create a green corridor for ambulances in urban areas.

Proposed Solution:

SmartCorridor is a transmitter–receiver–based system that automatically creates a green corridor for ambulances.

Transmitter: Installed in ambulances.

Receiver: Integrated with Vehicle Actuated Control (VAC) traffic signals.

Function: When the ambulance approaches, the transmitter sends a secure signal to the receiver, automatically switching traffic lights to green along its route.

Integration: Can be linked to city traffic control centers for coordination across multiple intersections.

This ensures that ambulances move seamlessly through traffic without delay, reducing mortality risk.

Many students are forced to rely on external vendors, which not only consumes additional time but also comes at a higher cost. This creates a recurring problem where students sacrifice either their productivity or their comfort just to manage routine necessities.

 

Solution

To address this, my idea is an On-Demand Campus Services App — a one-stop platform designed specifically for students. Through this app, students can order essential services such as laundry, food delivery,without disrupting their schedules. Meals can be delivered directly to their hostels or even served to them on campus, while laundry and other services can be scheduled with just a few taps. This system eliminates waiting time, reduces dependency on costly external vendors, and ensures that students can focus more on their academics and personal growth. Ultimately, the app provides convenience, affordability, and efficiency, making campus life smoother and more student-friendly.

They’re sustainable too—waste gets converted into biogas to power the lights and fans inside.

The primary beneficiaries are online shoppers, especially students, working professionals, and families looking to save money on essentials or gadgets. In most colleges, students spend a lot of time waiting in long lines—whether in the canteen during lunch, at the library counter, or in the office for fee payments and certificates. This wastes time, creates stress, and sometimes even causes students to miss classes or meals.

To solve this, I suggest a Smart Queue Management System. Instead of standing in line, students can book their place using a mobile app or by scanning a QR code. The system will give them a token number and show their position in the queue. Students can also see the estimated waiting time on their phones. In canteens or offices, digital screens will display the current token numbers so that everyone knows when their turn is coming.

This system can also use AI to study busy times of the day and suggest better times for students to visit, which will help avoid rush hours. Staff members will also benefit because they can serve students in an organized and calm way without handling large crowds.

The biggest benefit is that students can save time and use it for studying, relaxing, or attending classes instead of standing in long queues. Colleges will also look more modern and efficient, and the overall campus experience will improve.

I got this idea because I have personally faced long waiting times in the canteen and office, and I believe a smart system like this will make life easier for students and staff.

Satellite missions worth millions often fail not because of rockets or payloads, but because of batteries. Over time, harmful ions and chemical byproducts accumulate, reducing storage capacity and efficiency. Since satellites cannot be serviced once launched, failing batteries often cause premature mission termination, loss of valuable data, and contribute to the growing problem of space debris.

Proposed Solution:

Inspired by the kidney’s nephrons, which filter blood and maintain balance by separating waste from essentials, I propose a self-maintaining satellite battery. Much like how nephrons filter blood, selectively reabsorbing vital ions and flushing out toxins, this system integrates nano-porous membranes, ion-selective coatings, and microfluidic channels within the battery that actively recycle essential ions and flush out harmful byproducts. This continuous self-cleaning mechanism would significantly extend battery life and ensures long-term efficiency, reduced overheating, and extended satellite lifespan, without requiring human intervention.

The self-maintaining satellite battery mimics the nephron’s filtration process:
1. Harmful byproducts are selectively removed from the battery’s internal structure.

Cities also have a twofold challenge: accelerating energy needs and the imperative to move away from fossil fuels. As rooftop solar expands, it generally favors owners of property and excludes large parts of the community. In contrast, pavements, sidewalks, and public squares blanket huge unused surface areas that can be rethought as power generators.

 

My vision is Community-Powered Solar Pavements — pedestrian tiles with hardy solar cells and piezoelectric materials that harness both sunrays and foot energies. The energy produced could illuminate adjacent streetlights, power public EV charging stations, or flow into a local microgrid for nearby homes.

 

This idea is special because it takes ordinary walkways and turns them into community energy centers. While rooftop solar is restricted to people, solar pavements generate electricity for all. Cities might even plan systems where local residents can share the generated power or get credits on their power bills, making sustainability affordable and equitable.

 

Who benefits? Urban communities gain cheaper and cleaner energy, municipalities reduce dependence on centralized grids, and pedestrians enjoy safer, well-lit environments powered by their steps. Over time, entire neighborhoods could become partially self-sustaining in energy.

 

This problem matters to me because I’ve seen communities struggle with power shortages and rising utility costs, while acres of city pavement sit idle. Harnessing that space for renewable energy feels both practical and empowering.

 

Technically, the construction would employ anti-slip tempered glass tiles infused with solar layers, alongside piezoelectric sensors beneath to harvest vibrations from footsteps. Energy storage devices and IoT-integrated meters would control output and channel excess power where needed most.

 

By integrating renewable energy into the fabric of daily urban existence, this concept makes every step count towards constructing smarter, greener cities.
