Many SME's (Small and Medium Enterprise's) in India face a huge challenge, their machines can break down unexpectedly, which disrupts production, wastes time, and costs a lot of money. Most SME's don’t have the budget to invest in expensive software or hire large maintenance teams, so they rely on reactive maintenance i.e. fixing machines only after they fail. This approach is inefficient, stressful for workers, and often leads to missed deadlines and unhappy customers.

My idea is Predictive Maintenance-as-a-Service (PMaaS). A cloud-based software platform that connects to sensors on machines and uses AI to predict potential failures before they happen. Maintenance teams and managers can plan repairs in advance instead of reacting to problems after they occur. This keeps production running smoothly, saves money, and reduces the stress and chaos that comes from sudden machine failures.

Currently, the market does not adequately serve SME's as:

  • Enterprise software is usually expensive, complicated, and designed for large factories, making it inaccessible for smaller businesses.
  • Many SME's still rely on manual maintenance, which involves checking machines periodically and guessing when they might fail. A method that often misses early warning signs.
  • Existing predictive maintenance tools are either hardware heavy, difficult to implement, or require technical expertise that most SME's don’t have.

Cleanliness in public places, does it ring a bell? A cliche concept for most of the people in our generations you could say. But has this issue been resolved? Despite campaigns like Swachh Bharat, littering and neglect is still a never ending problem for us. The point is, people know cleanliness is important, but most don’t feel personally motivated to act. It feels more like a chore than a choice. 

 

That’s where my idea, CleanQuest comes in. A mobile app and a platform that changes the whole game. It makes cleaning not just a chore but also a fun and gamified challenge. 

 

Let me give you a brief on how it works: Imagine you are walking down a street and spotted a pile of plastic waste. Instead of ignoring it, you and your friends use the app to organize a quick cleanup. Once you are done, you take a picture, upload it, and earn points. These build up to: 

  • Personal rewards: discounts on food( we can collaborate with different food brands), shopping vouchers,free metro rides.
  • Community badges: your neighborhood becomes a “CleanZone” on the city map.
  •  friendly competitions: you schools,colleges and workplaces could have monthly competitions and win even bigger rewards.

 

Now, one may get a doubt about how we would know if the clean up is real or just a fake setup. The app uses GPS tagging to verify cleanup spots and prevent fake uploads. We could get brands and municipal corporations to also sponsor for a more real life benefits oriented output rather than just a feel good plan. 

 

Who would benefit out of this? 

  • Businesses: who gain goodwill by sponsoring cleanliness rewards.
  • Citizens: Cleaner surroundings mean better and healthier lives 
  • Municipal Bodies: they practically get volunteer support without extra cost.


Why does this idea matter to me? 

  • It saddens me to see how we don’t keep our country clean but when we go to another country the same people would throw the trash in the dustbins or wait it out till they get home. 
  • But once we are back, suddenly we just choose to litter on our home grounds and not blink an eye. 
  • How is it different? Shouldn’t we care more for our home? When I see litter on our roads, I stop blaming the people but instead I now want a system where  people actually want to clean. 



But a change has to be made. By turning cleanliness into a game, we’re making it cool , fun and rewarding. something people look forward to, rather than avoid. CleanQuest isn’t just about cleaning spaces, it’s about cleaning habits, mindsets, and our shared future.

Dining hall scenarios in educational institutions create recurring stress and disruption, especially during lunch hours. Though not a daily crisis, they strike hard several times a week—forcing students to choose between attending class and waiting in line. Slow food service, sudden crowd surges, and fully occupied tables often lead to rushed meals, extended wait times, or skipped meals altogether. While less frequent, similar issues arise during breakfast, snacks, and dinner, making it a concern that spans the entire day.

On our campus, with lunch timings set between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM, students often face a dilemma as classes are scheduled till 1:30 PM or start at 2:30 PM, creating room for long queues and slow food service increase the difficulty. When food arrives in delayed intervals and the crowd surges, students are forced to choose between eating and attending class on time. This is a perfect example representing the problem.

Gaps in Current Solutions:

Most dining halls operate on fixed schedules with no dynamic system to manage crowd flow. There’s no way to check queue length remotely, no slot booking, and no feedback loop to optimize food supply intervals. Even token systems are manual and fail to adapt to real-time demand. Students lack visibility into seating availability, and staff have limited tools to predict or manage peak hours.

The Solution:MessMate” is a smart queue and meal planning system that uses IoT sensors, mobile integration, and predictive analytics to streamline the dining experience.
