Problem Statement
Reduced visibility is something almost everyone faces—from driving in heavy fog or rain, to simply looking out the window during a dusty day or when haze settles in the air. Everyday weather conditions like fog, haze, dust, and pollution can make it difficult to see clearly, whether commuting, crossing the street, or enjoying outdoor activities. These regular occurrences highlight how much we rely on clear visibility for safety, comfort, and going about our daily routines.
Gaps in Current Solution
Limited weather resilience: Current thermal and IR systems fail to provide clear visibility in fog, haze, and dust.
Inability to look through glass: Thermal imagers cannot detect through window panes, which restricts operational intelligence inside closed rooms.
No integrated range-finding and location capability: Existing systems lack onboard distance measurement and target coordinate acquisition.
Bulky and non-portable solutions: Many advanced surveillance devices are heavy and require multi-person operation.
My Solution
A next-generation long/medium range day and night multi-spectral surveillance camera that integrates the following capabilities:
Handheld, lightweight, and operable by a single commando.
Ability to identify human-sized targets up to 1.5 km in day and 1 km at night.
Integrated video transmission for command-and-control monitoring.
Onboard video recording for post-operation analysis and evidence.
Imaging capability to see inside rooms through glass window panes in ambient light.
Video integration with augmented reality head-mounted display (AR-HUD).
Built-in range finder up to 2 km, providing distance and coordinate data of the target.
Uses multi-spectral technology: Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) and Medium Wave Infrared (MWIR) imaging for enhanced penetration through fog, haze, dust, and for longer night-range coverage.
Who Benefits
NSG Commandos and Security Forces: Gain enhanced situational awareness, enabling better target recognition, covert surveillance, and rapid tactical decision-making.
Law Enforcement Agencies: Facilitates safer operations in hostage rescue, room-clearing, and anti-terror tasks.
Communities and Citizens: Indirectly benefit from stronger national security, quicker threat identification, and reduced risks during counter-terror and high-security missions.
Why This Problem Matters
National security operations often demand precision in environments where visibility is compromised. A single intelligence lapse due to poor surveillance can endanger both commandos’ lives and mission success. Developing a robust, all-weather surveillance device ensures that our forces operate with technological superiority, reducing risks and enabling decisive action even under adverse conditions.
