The Problem:

Most of the people waste hours standing in queues at hospitals, banks, events, colleges, and government offices. Existing token systems often require users to wait on site, leading to inefficiency and frustration, and leads to feeling of wasted time.

The Gap in current solution:

Offline token systems like paper slips, display boards are outdated. Existing queue management apps are complicated to use, don’t work across different institutions and real-time updates are often inaccurate or missing and also discourage small clinics, colleges, or local offices. No single platform offers a simple, common solution that is accessible to everyone.

The Solution:

The proposed Smart Queue Buddy app would let user take a virtual token remotely. Shows real time queue updates like 5 people ahead estimated time 15 minutes, send smart notifications like you’re 3rd in line please return now, helps institutions manage multiple counters efficiently. It also offers messages for users without smartphones and Whatsapp/SMS notification to people with smartphones.

Who does it benefit?

It is helpful to all users standing in line for hours, saves time, reduces stress and frustration, save their valuable time for another important thing. It is also helpful for organisations because it improves efficiency, manage crowd, increase customer satisfaction and also leads to safer and calmer waiting areas.

Why it matters to me?

I have personally experienced and saw a lot of people with frustration and wasted time that comes with waiting in long queues for even simple services like check up at the hospital or visit to bank for creating a bank account. I realised that if waiting could be smarter, people could spend those hours more meaningfully. Smart Queue Buddy is my way of turning this into a simple solution that saves time for everyone.

Technical details:

Smart Queue Buddy uses a backend for data storage and API to connect backend with mobile apps and database to store user tokens queue status, estimate time. User interface for receiving notifications. Admin Dashboard to mange counters and monitor queues.

  • Smart Queue Buddy is a very practical and thoughtful solution. It makes waiting in lines more efficient, saves time, reduces frustration, and helps institutions manage queues better. A simple idea with a big impact on daily life.
  • Great idea! Its a wonderful idea.
  • Great idea! You’ve tackled a real frustration and made it practical with real-time updates, smart notifications, and even SMS/WhatsApp support. The concept is inclusive, efficient, and your technical flow shows it’s doable. Smart Queue Buddy really has the potential to save people time and improve how institutions manage crowds.
  • Really interesting idea! I like how it identifies a real problem and provides a clear solution. The focus on impact, scalability, and user benefits makes it stand out. Excited to see how this grows and the value it creates!
  • This is a thoughtful and much-needed solution! Making queues virtual with real-time updates and smart notifications can save people hours and relieve a lot of frustration—such innovation makes everyday life much more efficient and accessible for everyone
  • Smart Queue Buddy is definitely tackling a real problem, and I like the focus on saving people’s time. But I wonder if the challenge will be in execution especially getting small clinics, colleges, or government offices to actually use and maintain the system. Maybe if you can show how adoption will be made simple and cost-effective, it could really stand out.
  • really nice idea this and might help alot of people and save them time
  • Interesting concept, but I’m not sure if it solves the real pain point. People often wait in queues not just because of lack of tokens but due to slow service, paperwork, or staff shortages. Even with a smart app, if counters aren’t efficient, won’t people still end up waiting? Also, smaller clinics and government offices may resist adopting new systems how would Smart Queue Buddy overcome that?
    • Thank you for commenting you have a good point! Smart Queue Buddy can’t fix slow service or staff shortages, but it can remove the unnecessary waiting. Instead of standing in line, people can track their turn remotely and use time better.
  • This is a strong idea that tackles a universal problem; adding a quick note on how it can scale across hospitals, banks, and events would make it even more convincing.
