Introduction

Students and communities in today's busy world usually require multiple skills—coding, cooking, photography, public speaking, design, or even academic tutoring. Yet, people are deprived of learning these skills due to a lack of money, resources, or access.
Skill Swap addresses this issue by providing a platform where people can directly trade skills without the use of money. For instance, a graphic design-skilled student can tutor another student and vice versa learn guitar lessons.

This establishes an inclusive, affordable, and shared learning environment.

Problem Statement

  • Many students cannot afford expensive courses or private coaching.

  • Talented people often don’t have platforms to showcase or share their skills.

  • Skill development is fragmented—existing platforms (Udemy, Coursera) charge fees and lack personal interaction.

  • Students often underutilize their skills, which could benefit their peers.

Benefits and Impacts

  • Low-Cost Learning—No money involved, only knowledge exchange.

  • Skill Empowerment – Encourages people to teach and showcase talents.

  • Community Building – Strengthens bonds within the campus and local society.

  • Accessibility—Makes skill development available to everyone, regardless of income.

  • Employability—Helps students build soft and hard skills useful for jobs.

  • A real game-changer for anyone who wants to learn. I'm interested in using this platform but one thing I would like to know is that how do you plan on translating the time the two people are going to spend based on the activity or skill they are providing or will both put in equal time regardless?
  • Love this vision! The problem of fragmented, expensive skill acquisition is so real, and 'Skill Swap' offers such an elegant, human-centered solution. It really encourages people to recognize and share their own valuable talents. This feels like the future of inclusive learning.
