SHUT THE PHONE UP - a mobile game that helps you reduce your screen time.

PROBLEM:

OKK...let us have a look around  and question ourselves why is our screentime  so high???

instagram,whatsapp,youtube..these platforms are bulid for dailylife human applications but rather we made them "ADDICTIONS".

lately,i was thinking how can we avoid this addiction as i am also getting driven when i am watching reels in instagram.then,i thought of an idea of a game...YEAH why not a game can make sure to reduce our screen time.(INTERESTING..!!!).wink

SOLUTION:

SOO...

as any app does my game also asks the permissions(like notifications, access to camera..)but this game asks permission to take over or shut the phone for a duration of time fixed by the player or user if he/she loses the game.13713132682?profile=RESIZE_400x

as the game goes,

the objective of the levels are simple but completing them is not wink

the game will randomise your phone controls

EXAMPLE:

(if you want to increase the volume of the mobile,

as usual, you will press the volume up button but that can access your mobile brightness or can open your mobile camera...etc.)

so as the time ticks , you have to find out a way or a control that can actually increase the volume..

if you win,you go to next level where timer is less than compared to the previous level.

if you lose, your mobile will shut off for a duration of time(set by you).

as there will be only 5 levels, for each level the controls are going to reset and objective changes ( timer exists ).

any way the game will be designed as you get off  phone  atleast 2 times.

also, the game can be played only for a 30 minutes of time per a day.(to avoid addiction for this gamelaughing).

but there is a problem here what if the phone is shut and there is an emergency.

so..there will be 3 phone numbers given to app to call in emergency time and permission to 2 apps which can be open even while phone is shut.

SOLUTIONS FOR SCREEN REDUCTION(FOR PRESENT TIME):

1)actually smartphones have a feature of informing when screen time of an average is high for a period of a time.

2)there are a lot of third party apps and softwares to help reduce screen time even change the screen to grayscale mode(black and white) to make it look less appealing.

3) For families, parents control device settings are used to manage a child's screen time

WHO BENEFITS:

1)people who are looking forward to work on themselves can have time reserved for them.

2)people who are addicted to instagram and other social media platforms can get rid of them.

3)students can have thier time instead of scrolling randomly watching some random stuff on internet.

4)people who actually prefer "gamified" way to get things done will also enjoy the app.

5)people with anxiety, stress and sleeping issues cn be solved.

6)digital awareness can be spread out a lot and people can live of thier lives without the phone in thier hands.

WHY THIS PROBLEM MATTERS TO YOU:

this phone  addiction has been a major problem in my daily life.i noticed my time is being wasted a lot while i was watching reels on instagram.sleeping times are soo lost and anxiety hits a lot . the ease to work actually vanishes . so to get rid of addiction this is an actual way and when i look around this has been a common problem for all.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

The app must contain a randomization engine to generate random values for these controls. This can be based on various factors, such as a timer, user actions, or a predefined schedule.

FOR ANDROID,

as android is more open than IOS,but since it also has security permissions to be given To achieve this randomise functionality, the app would likely need to utilize specific permissions and APIs.android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS: This is a "dangerous" permission that allows an app to modify system settings.laughing

FOR IOS,

An app has very limited access to system-level settings, and this is a significant barrier to creating a full-featured randomization app.frown

  • This is a really creative and practical idea! Turning screen time reduction into a game makes the process engaging rather than restrictive. The concept of randomizing phone controls is unique; it’s both funny and frustrating, yet effective at the same time. It also shows great thoughtfulness that you included emergency access and daily time limits. Honestly, this could really help people (including me) manage their screen time in a fun way!!
  • It's truly an idea which helps in curing the major problem of increased screen time in this era. This chaotic game will be a step ahead towards peace. The amount of thought and creativity behind this idea has to be appreciated. One unique thing is the phone does not lose its utility during the locked period since one can give special permissions to 2 apps and 3 emergency contact numbers. Happy to be an Android user btw!😁
  • This is genuinely an innovative idea, and hats of to the creativity behind this aap. In today's world lots of potential go wasted in excessive screen time and waste of our time. To think to reduce our screen time by a game on our mobile is truly mind boggling and is much needed so that people can get over there addictions of mobile phone.
  • That’s such a creative and fun idea! Turning screen-time reduction into a game makes it both engaging and productive. The random control twist sounds challenging and unique. Great balance between entertainment and self-discipline this could really help people break their phone addiction in a smart way!
  • I am genuinely impressed by how creatively it promotes reducing screen time.It turns self-discipline into a fun and rewarding experience. The concept feels fresh, simple, and surprisingly effective.A smart and thoughtful step towards mindful phone use!

  • This is a clever and highly original concept that uses gamification and a high-stakes penalty (phone shutdown) to directly combat screen addiction. The randomization feature makes a mundane act a focused challenge. A unique and bold approach!
  • This idea offers a fun, gamified way to reduce screen time and combat phone addiction. However, limiting access to only a few contacts and apps could be risky in emergencies. It provides extrinsic motivation for users to control their screen usage. Overall, it’s a creative and practical solution for people struggling with phone overuse.
  • This method of treating screen addiction is incredibly innovative and useful. It sounds entertaining and practical to turn the problem of cutting screen time into a game, especially one that humorously tampers with standard phone controls. I like how it takes emergency access into account while striking a balance between incentives and penalties. Unquestionably a novel, gamified approach to promoting better phone usage.
  • This is a nice idea to reduce screen time in a fun, gamified way. However, shutting the phone completely might be risky during emergencies ( Only 3 numbers and 2 apps are excused but we don't know who we would have to call during an emergency as there could be many problem some family related some work related etc), and managing permissions could be tricky.
  • That’s a really creative idea —turning screen addiction into a game is both fun and practical. The random controls make it engaging, and the 30-minute limit keeps it from becoming addictive itself. Execution might be tricky on iOS, but as a concept it’s fresh and has real potential for digital wellness.
