Problem Statement:
Every semester, students are left with unused books, clothes, electronics, and other items that often go to waste. At the same time, new students end up buying the same things at full price, creating unnecessary expenses and environmental impact.
Proposed Solution:
We propose a Second Chance Store – a hybrid (online + offline) platform where students can:
- Resell, exchange, or donate their unused items.
- Track their impact (waste reduced, carbon footprint saved).
- Earn eco-points for every transaction, which can be redeemed for rewards, vouchers, or campus perks.
Unique Features:
- Gamification: Students earn eco-points and badges for sustainable actions.
- Partnerships: Tie-ups with NGOs for donation drives and local thrift startups.
- Impact Dashboard: Shows statistics like “100 kg waste reduced, 200 items reused, 500 students benefitted.”
- Trust & Safety: Ratings/reviews to ensure quality of exchanged goods.
Expected Outcomes:
- Encourage a circular economy on campus.
- Reduce wastage and carbon footprint.
- Build a stronger student-to-student community.
- Offer an affordable alternative for new students.
