The Problem

In the modern era of filmmaking, students and casual cinephiles love studying iconic scenes, but breaking them down requires watching long movies, pausing and manual analyzing. To further complicate matters, film schools use heavy softwares like Final Cut which are expensive and complex for beginners.

The Solution: SceneSync

SceneSync is an AI-driven app that breaks down movie scenes for educational purposes- making cinema a learning tool for everyone.

All the user needs to do is pick a film - the app uses AI to auto-detect camera angles, lighting and editing techniques. After analysis it provides an in-depth explanation of how each element works, writing techniques the director used. It also provides a template with which the user can recreate the scene.

We haven’t arrived at the USP yet- if any user wants to recreate a film, or make a new one altogether, all they need to do is raise a post. Like-minded and willing people will reach out to them, thereby reducing the hassle for solo filmmakers.

List of Technologies Required to build SceneSync:

  • OpenCV, TensorFlow, Pytorch for Computer Vision and AI, aiding object and scene detection.
  • Neural Language Processing for explaining why a certain technique is used, and analysing screenplay.
  • Video Processing Infrastructure for Shot Boundary Detection algorithms.
  • React for frontend, Node.js for backend, MongoDB for database, AWS for cloud.

Current Solutions and their drawbacks:

  • Film schools and editing softwares: expensive and complicated
  • Online tutorials: not interactive or personalised.
  • Letterboxd and other platforms: limited for film reviews and feedback only.

Who benefits?

  • Film students and aspiring filmmakers
  • Casual cinephiles
  • Educational institutions, as SceneSync is a duolingo of sorts.

The motivation behind my idea was binge watching a movie I loved as a kid, and the urge to recreate a particular scene.

Let’s make filmmaking more accessible to the public, SceneSync has you covered!

  • Learn, create, and collaborate SceneSync makes filmmaking effortless for everyone.
Turning every movie scene into a masterclass in cinema.
  • cool idea but, if filmmaking is made easily accessible, then what will be the actual value of the art?
  • this is such a fascinating idea! i am concerned about copyright issues but looking forward nonetheless
  • I'm already excited to use this after reading the idea, It is slowly catching on reels where some account demonstrate what's an L cut and etc but a platform where i can choose any movie and each and every scene getting broken down is clearly game changing anddddd

The USP ofc, it really is hard to make your first film because of a various difficulties you may face and this brings people together who wanna work with you which is pretty thoughtful.
  • I love this—SceneSync feels like handing curious filmmakers a friendly teacher and a collaborative studio in one app, turning movie-watching into a hands-on spark of creativity.
Practical for students and inspiring for hobbyists, it could genuinely change how people learn and remake scenes if the analysis and collaboration flow are simple and reliable.
  • Really an interesting one, This makes film-making a bit easy to understand on how movies are shot. Breakdown of camera angles, lighting, and editing is awesome, and the templates to recreate scenes are a big help. Also I like the way it helps the beginners who are into film-making and also to the people who wants to know the details of their favourite scene.
  • I really like this concept, it feels refreshing and different from the usual film tools out there. As someone who loves cinema, the idea of getting scene breakdowns with all the little details about lighting, angles, and editing is so interesting. The part about connecting creators is a nice touch too, it could actually help people find collaborators easily. Maybe starting small with just the scene analysis part first would help people see the value right away, and then you could slowly build the community features. Overall, it feels like something that could make learning about films a lot more approachable for students and casual movie lovers alike.
  • Perfect for democratizing film education, its accessibilty and newer way to learn will be an interesting experiement. There could be possible misinterpretation as there is no context involved in recreating a particular scene, leading it to misleading and poor quality learning for the users.
  • great idea abhijit. i think this is a product that has been long overdue. filmmaking is the only form of education which hasnt gone a revolution. i tgink your ai revolution in it will be fantastic for budding students
  • Great concept! I love how you’re making film study both interactive and collaborative—the USP of connecting creators is strong. Maybe you could also think about adding small guided challenges or scene-recreation prompts to keep users engaged.
