PennyWise - Never Overpay Again.

In today’s digital age, shopping online has become second nature. From groceries to gadgets, everything is just a click away. However, the biggest frustration for consumers is never knowing whether they are paying the lowest possible pricePrices vary across platforms, coupons are scattered, and cashback deals often go unnoticed. Current tools like Honey only apply coupons, while price trackers show limited history without predicting future drops.

There’s no all-in-one solution for truly smart savings.

Pennywise is a website and extension that:

  • Tracks product prices across platforms (Amazon, Meesho, Myntra, Nykaa, Croma, Trivago, Zostel etc.).
  • Predicts when the price will drop (using historical pricing: e.g., “this usually gets 30% off during Big Billion Days”).
  • Auto-applies coupons, bank offers, and hidden discounts.
  • Suggests sidepaths like:
    Buy refurbished instead of new.
    Cheaper seller options.
    Nearby offline store deals.
Wait X days to save Y%.
  • Personalization: alerts you when an item you want hits your “target price”.
  • Community to discuss insider options like backdoor routes or wholesaler deals.

Why it matters?

Indians are extremely price-sensitive (small % discount drives huge shifts).
E-commerce platforms deliberately make pricing confusing with coupons, bank offers, and flash sales.
A neutral “shopping intelligence” tool puts power back in the buyer’s hands.

Students looking for affordable products get ‘but now or wait’ advice. Nothing beats a Jet Two holiday!😀Right now, you can save 50 pounds💷per person!🤑🎉Thats 200 pounds💷off for a family👨‍👩‍👧‍👦of four!👯‍♀️👍. Tracks subscriptions and nudges when renewal is cheaper. Real time comparison of deals for small businesses that purchase bulk supplies online. PennyWise helps people stretch their income further, making shopping smarter and reducing the anxiety of missing out on deals.

This problem matters to me because I’ve personally seen how friends, family, and even myself often regret purchases after realizing the same product was cheaper elsewhere. In a world where every rupee counts, especially for students and middle-class households, saving intelligently can make a real difference. This can become a huge trust-based consumer brand. The website that guarantees you never overpay online.

Tech details:

Web scraping + APIs to gather prices. ML models to forecast price drops based on seasonal/sale trends. Browser extension for auto-apply coupons. WhatsApp bot for rural/Tier-2 users (“send link to get best deal alert”).

Revenue from affiliate commissions, premium users, and brand partnerships etc.

Special thanks to a dear friend for helping me shape and clarify these ideas.

  • Great idea! I can connect to this idea because I've experienced the regret of overpaying for stuff just because I missed an offer by a day or forgot about a coupon I could've used. But there's a privacy concern; tracking multiple platforms may require sensitive user data, integrating data from many platforms may raise privacy or security issues. Additionally, some sites may block tracking or use dynamic pricing, which can make it difficult for the platform to provide accurate predictions consistently. I wish you the best in overcoming these hurdles.
  • This is genuinely one of the most practical and high-impact ideas I've come across. The integration of price prediction with real-time offer aggregation fills a major gap that most existing tools completely miss. The “buy now or wait” advice based on data is particularly powerful for price-conscious users, and features like refurbished suggestions and WhatsApp bot access show how inclusive and deeply thought-out this is. Could easily become a trusted household tool for millions of Indians. Rooting for PennyWise to become the default layer of intelligence on top of online shopping.
    • Thank you so much for this. You've captured the essence of PennyWise!
  • Price tracking with ML predictions and community insights is such a smart idea. The "never overpay again" tagline is solid and the Indian market context makes total sense. Main challenge would be keeping data accurate across all those platforms and dealing with affiliate program restrictions, but the revenue model looks sustainable. This could genuinely save people serious money.
    • hey thank you for the detailing, and I completely agree! It's very Indian centric. Accuracy will be a problem, hence we are thinking of developing user centric review system. The prev buyers would help out in trust building.
  • This genuinely sounds like is a highly practical and well-conceived idea. By combining price tracking, predictive analytics, and automated coupon application, Pennywise addresses a real pain point for online shoppers. Wonderful idea, 100% would try!
  • Great idea! Love how Pennywise goes beyond coupons into predictions and smarter buying choices. Making deal sources transparent could really boost trust and set it apart.
  • Love this idea!!Your “shopping intelligence” goes way beyond coupons and actually helps people make better choices . The features are strong: track prices across sites, predict drops, auto-apply bank/coupon savings, suggest refurbished or cheaper sellers, and even a community for tips
  • Nice idea- Could this model be expanded to other high-stakes online purchases? Like flight tickets, hotel bookings, or even food delivery?
    • Totally! High stakes online purchases need reliable sellers. Our ML model prioritises authenticity more and more as the prices go up. We are not just delivering a sorting extension, but a trustable platform for our users. Thank you so much for showing interest!
