HobbyBazar - Begin your hobby adventure

Problem
Many people want to try new hobbies but don’t know where to start. They feel overwhelmed by scattered online information, unsure about what materials to buy, or how to progress from beginner to intermediate level. As a result, they often give up before even starting. Some times people don’t even know what their true interests are, and this makes it difficult for them to decide what hobby to begin with. This leads to boredom, increased screen addiction, stress, and missed opportunities for personal growth.

What Does This App Do
This app helps people of any age discover, choose, and start new hobbies by offering personalized recommendations, beginner-friendly guides, and ongoing support. When users join, they take a quiz about their interests and lifestyle, and the app uses this information to suggest hobbies that suit their personality and schedule. For each hobby, the app provides easy-to-follow tutorials, required material lists, skill development plans, and progress tracking tools.
Users can connect with a supportive community, join groups, find local hobby events, and ask experienced hobbyists for advice. Motivation features such as reminders, milestones, and friendly challenges help users stay engaged and make their hobby journey enjoyable and rewarding.

Current gap in solutions
YouTube videos, blogs or Existing hobby apps tend to focus on social networking for people who already have hobbies or only provide lists of activities without much beginner support. Also they lack personalization and don’t guide users step-by-step from beginner to expert.

Who Benefits
This app is made for people of all ages and backgrounds who want to try something new in their free time. Students can use it to reduce stress and discover creative activities beyond academics. Working professionals can discover hobbies that help them relax and bring balance to their busy and boring lives. Homemakers can explore enjoyable and satisfying activities that brighten their daily routines. Senior citizens can stay active, involved, and socially connected by taking up simple, meaningful hobbies. In short, the app helps anyone who wants to try something new but isn’t sure where to start.

Why it matters to me
This idea matters to me because I personally experienced the same problem. During my holidays, I wanted to start a new hobby but was very confused about what to choose and how to begin. I realized that many of my other friends feel the same way, they want to try something new but don’t know where to start, what materials are needed, or how to stay motivated. That experience inspired me to think of this app.

  • Fantastic vision! Tutorials are such a strong feature to include.
Maybe collaborating with creators or hobby experts can bring in authentic, step-by-step guides.
That would give users confidence and higher quality learning experiences.
  • Great idea! A community space where people can share their progress, creations, and tips could really boost motivation.
It not only helps beginners stay inspired but also builds stronger engagement.
  • I really like this idea because it solves a problem I have faced myself. Many times I wanted to start a new hobby but didn’t know where to begin or what materials to get. Having personalized suggestions and step-by-step guidance would make it so much easier to explore something new. The community and motivation features also feel very helpful to stay consistent. This app would truly make trying hobbies less confusing and more enjoyable for me.

  • This sounds like a great idea for both individuals, one who knows what their hobby is but don't know where to start or what to do with it and one who has no idea about their hobbies or skills and aren't able to figure it out. This app does it for them, and also the individual could take some assistance from a mentor which is a really good feature. The only problem u might face is with the scalability and marketing of this product.
  • This is such a cool idea! Starting a new hobby always feels overwhelming, but an app like this would make it so much easier and fun.
  • Its such a refreshing idea because who doesn't want a hobby and I agree its really difficult to start one because it gets confusing. Its a great tool for all who wish to stay active specially senior citizens. I would love if it included a feature wherein activities like hiking or trekking or group activities could be organised live so that people could get out of there houses too to enjoy and increase their activeness
  • This app solves a clear, relatable problem. The primary challenge will be the massive, non-scalable effort of creating high-quality, guided content for such a wide variety of hobbies. The proposed feature scope is also very large; a tighter MVP focusing *only* on the guided paths for 3-5 initial hobbies would be more viable.
  • What stands out about this concept is how it reframes hobbies not just as pastimes, but as a pathway to self-discovery. Most solutions focus only on teaching a skill, but your app could become a personal growth companion by helping people uncover hidden interests they never knew they had. The personality quiz is a great start, and if expanded with AI-driven suggestions or mood-based recommendations , it could feel truly dynamic and adaptive.
  • Interesting concept it does solve a real problem since most people don’t know how to start with new hobbies. But I’m wondering how will this stand out from YouTube or existing apps? The personalization and community angle sound useful though, could actually keep people engaged if done right.
