PROBLEM:

I have often seen large amounts of edible food from restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets being wasted, while many people in the same city struggle to get even one proper meal. The main issue is that there is no quick and organized way to connect food donors with NGOs or volunteers at the right time. Most donation drives are manual and uncoordinated, resulting in a significant amount of surplus food being discarded instead of reaching those in need.

SOLUTION:

My idea is to create a mobile app called FOODBRIDGE, which directly links food donors with NGOs and their volunteers in real-time. Whenever a restaurant or shop has extra food, they can mark it on the app, and nearby NGOs or volunteers will get instant GPS-based notifications to pick it up. This way, the food can be collected and redistributed before it spoils. The solution benefits everyone: hungry people get meals, NGOs can work more efficiently, and businesses reduce waste while improving their social image. This idea matters to me because I personally witnessed good food being thrown away after events, and I believe using what we already have more wisely can make a big difference in reducing hunger.
