Akhanda Bharat - Animated Ithihasas and Puranas of Bharat.

One of the biggest problems today is the disconnect between Gen Z and their cultural roots. Young people are growing up in a world dominated by global entertainment like anime, Marvel movies, and K-dramas, while their own ancient heritage—the Sanatan Itihasas (Ramayana, Mahabharata) and Puranas—often feels distant , complicated, or “too religious.” These texts are not mythology but authentic history, filled with lessons on dharma, leadership, morality, and resilience. However, they are vast, written in thousands of verses, and time-consuming to study in depth. For Gen Z, who prefer engaging, fast-paced formats, the traditional way of learning these scriptures feels overwhelming.

The current solutions—books, TV serials, or scattered online content—do not bridge this gap effectively. Old serials feel outdated, books require too much time, and many online resources oversimplify or misrepresent the stories. What is missing is a modern, high-quality storytelling medium that presents Sanatan history as it is in a way today’s youth can relate to.

My idea is to create anime adaptations of the Itihasas and Puranas. Anime is already popular among Gen Z worldwide because it combines stunning visuals, emotional depth, and powerful character arcs. By retelling episodes like the Kurukshetra war, Rama’s exile, or Narsimha’s avatar in anime form, these eternal stories can be both entertaining and educational. The anime format would allow us to showcase intense battles, moral dilemmas, what is dharma , how to live life , the purpose of life , and divine wisdom in a style that today’s youth deeply connect with.

The benefits are widespread:

  • Gen Z gains access to timeless guidance in a format they already love.

  • Parents and educators get an engaging medium to pass down traditions.

  • Communities preserve and share Sanatan history globally, countering the misconception that it is “myth.”

This matters to me because these texts are not just stories—they are guides for every step of life. They teach us how to uphold dharma, face challenges with courage, and make righteous choices. By adapting them into anime, we ensure this wisdom reaches the next generation in a form they will respect, enjoy, and carry forward.
