Smart home devices have gained significant traction in recent times. As everything around us is being automated, so are the ability to turn on fans and lights from a distance. We can notice such hardware existing in many of the houses in the first-world countries. However, it becomes too expensive to afford such luxuries and conveniences in second and third world countries like India. So I bring a solution for this. AIRLIT- The most affordable smart switch in the market.

Unlike modern smart home devices which use hardware that are replacing the entire switchboard, rewiring too much and too complex to install, AIRLIT smart switches are removable gadgets that can be placed on any switch as pleased. They are battery powered Bluetooth switches that push the light or fan switches when a signal is sent to it. They will come in sets of 4-10 switches and extra batteries. The switches can be interchangeable from switch to switch just by pulling the magnet off the switches. The price at which they will be sold will be way more affordable due to the simpleness of the gadget. An app will be used to name and control the different switches from a distance. The smart switches will use special sensor software that will switch off the fans and lights when they don’t sense the user’s Bluetooth signal. One would assume the switches would look ugly. For this reason, we will offer the users the service to custom build their smart switch plates to their wish.

WHO IT WILL BENEFIT: -

Users (Households & Individuals): Gain the ability to remotely control fans and lights, schedule operations (e.g., turning off a fan at night automatically), and reduce electricity wastage. Elderly users and people with mobility challenges particularly benefit from added convenience and independence.

Buyers (Families & Property Owners): Save on energy bills through intelligent scheduling and monitoring while enhancing home value with modern smart infrastructure.

Communities: Widespread adoption reduces unnecessary energy consumption, contributing to sustainability goals and lowering strain on local power grids.

WHY THIS PROBLEM MATTERS

Electricity wastage from fans and lights is a common issue in most households. Something as simple as turning off the respective switches when leaving the room can cause significant cumulative electricity wastage. This also causes the hardware to be deteriorated faster over time. I have personally faced issues as such in my home. A fan or the geyser left running in an empty room not only increases the electric bill but also wastes valuable energy.

This issue matters because it intersects convenience, affordability and sustainability. Unlike high end smart home products, a smart switch retrofit can create tangible impact by being accessible to the masses, solving a real-world problem at scale.

CONCLUSION

The smart switch idea addresses a clear market gap: affordable, practical, and retrofit-friendly smart controls for everyday appliances like fans and lights. It empowers households with energy savings, accessibility, and convenience while contributing to a larger goal of sustainable energy usage. Unlike premium smart home products, this solution has the potential to scale widely in markets where energy efficiency is not just a lifestyle choice but a necessity.

  • Your solution includes every popular tech buzzword from AI to Blockchain, which sounds powerful but also incredibly expensive and complicated. It would be more realistic if you focused on one key part or explained how a normal company could actually afford this system.
  • The idea is interesting but the battery powered design may be unreliable in heat or humidity and frequent replacements add cost.Bluetooth range could cause delays or failures and the removable magnets might not stay secure, making it less durable and safe.
  • Battery-powered switches may require frequent replacements, which could frustrate users over time. A rechargeable or solar-powered alternative might make the product more sustainable and cost-effective in the long run.
  • Brilliant idea. A simple, mechanical retrofit is the key to making smart home tech truly affordable and accessible for everyone.
  • AIRLIT is an innovative and affordable smart switch solution that combines convenience, energy savings, and accessibility, making smart home automation practical for every household while promoting sustainability. Its retrofit design, user-friendly app, and customization options are standout strengths that make it scalable and impactful.
  • This is an unique idea for houses to save energy, But is this really better than in built switches which could function more with versatility
  • Offering customizable switch plates is a smart move, it balances functionality with aesthetics, ensuring people won’t see it as an eyesore in their homes.
  • It is a highly accessible and practical solution. AIRLIT has strong potential for adoption in markets where affordability and simplicity are critical. The combination of convenience, energy efficiency, and customization makes this idea very compelling.
  • Really love this. Making smart home solutions affordable and retrofit friendly is a game changer, especially in a country like India where energy savings and cost matter so much. AIRLIT has the perfect balance of convenience, sustainability, and accessibility
  • This is a brilliant example of frugal innovation. Instead of replacing existing infrastructure, AIRLIT adapts to it, making smart automation accessible to the Indian middle class. The modularity, affordability, and focus on real user needs (like elderly or disabled users) make it a truly scalable solution.
