1. Real-World Problem It Solves

Oral cancer is one of the most common cancers in countries like India, but most cases are detected very late—when treatment is difficult, costly, and survival rates are low. Early detection could save thousands of lives, but regular checkups are rare due to cost, lack of awareness, or distance from specialists.

2. Gaps in Current Solutions / Market

Existing detection often happens at advanced stages.

Screening requires specialist dentists/oncologists, which are unavailable in rural areas.

No widely accessible low-cost, at-home solution exists for routine screening.

3. Who Benefits

Users / Patients → Early, affordable detection at home using just a smartphone camera.

Doctors / Hospitals → Get pre-screened patients with higher chances of successful treatment.

Community / Public Health → Reduced healthcare costs, lower mortality, and more awareness.

4. Why This Problem Matters to Me

I’ve seen how diseases like cancer often go unnoticed until it’s too late—especially for people who don’t have easy access to hospitals. A cheap, AI-driven tool could give millions of people a fighting chance, especially in underserved areas.

  • E-Cell
This is a brilliant and incredibly impactful idea that leverages AI to solve a critical healthcare gap in India. The potential to save lives through accessible, early detection is immense. My main question is about the core technical and regulatory challenge: What do you see as the single biggest hurdle in training the AI to achieve the near-perfect accuracy needed for medical-grade diagnosis and gaining the trust of both patients and doctors?
    • The single biggest hurdle is getting enough high-quality, clinically labeled data to train the AI—without it, accuracy, regulatory approval, and doctor/patient trust all fall apart.
